Volvo C30 ReviewReview of the Swedish auto
When
the C30 was first introduced in 2006, it was a design concept. The car
was designed for the younger crowd, and one look at it can convey the
impression that Volvo succeeded in this area. While most Volvo models
used a more mature design, the C30 is colorful and impressive to
behold. It comes with three doors, and it can seat a grand total of
four passengers. The C30 will also come in the form of either a coupe
or hatchback. It can use a petrol or diesel engine, and the various
engine options will be divided into either the straight 4 or straight 5
category.
The fact that Volvo is now producing 65,000 C30s per
year tells me that the model is largely successful. I'm very impressed
with the safety features, and it could be argued that the C30 is one
the safety cars in its class. It has multiple airbags, anti-lock
breaks, and an electronic stability system. The skeleton of the car
uses various grades of steel which are design to absorb the energy that
is generated during an accident. Instead of the force being
concentrated in one location, it is distributed around the body.
I
personally feel that the best feature which allows the C30 to stand out
is safety. For young couples with children, this is one of the safest
cars they can buy. It should also be noted that the C30 has a sporty
look, and Volvo has moved away from the traditional design that is so
prevalent in their older models. As far as price, the C30 is lower than
other Volvo models, but it is somewhat higher than other cars that are
aimed at the younger crowd. While the C30 will run from about $21,000
to $25,000, cars such as the Scion will be lower than under $17,000,
and they are tailored towards people in the same age group.
However,
the sheer safety of the C30 makes it a car that I would consider. It
has a superior sound system, and electric hybrids are in development.
While a diesel engine will be used as a back up, the electric engine
can run for nearly 60 miles before you will need to recharge it. In a
day and age where the price of gas continues to increase, a feature
like this can save drivers a great deal of money. Over all, there is
nothing really negative I can say about the Volvo C30. It is a well
rounded vehicle that is evenly priced.
